FAQ's

Q: What should I wear? Do I need to dress up in 20’s clothes?

A: Dressing up in 1920’s style clothes is fun! However, we don’t want you to feel uncomfortable or be put off attending if dressing up isn’t your thing.  Therefor period clothes are encouraged but not essential. Due to the wooden flooring, no stilettos at The Mansion please.

Q: I am bringing a group of friends - can I reserve a table?

A: We don’t have many tables at this venue so unfortunately tables can’t be reserved. If you really want a table email to make a special request

Q: How much is the admission charge?

A: £20 including booking fee for advance tickets (which includes a complimentary cocktail on arrival). £20 on the door, cash only no cards.

Q: Do I need to book tickets in advance?

A: Tickets should be purchased online at eventbrite. We prefer it if you buy tickets  before the night so we can ensure we are set up to cater for the right number of guests. We will usually have tickets to sell on the door at the start of the  night, but it’s possible they may sell out.

Q: Is there a bar?

A: Yes. We aim to have a card machine but please bring plenty of cash just in case it fails to work!

Q: How do I get there and back?

A:  The closest train station is Beckenham Hill. We recommend using the TfL journey planner. Enter the postcode BR3 1SY and your own. We will  have a list of local mini cab companies at the venue. Or try Uber.

Q: Are children allowed?

A: 21 and over is the rule but we will listen to reason if you contact us in advance. Young children will not be admitted under any circumstances.

Q: What about parking?

A: There is a car park on site.

Q: Where is it?

A: The Mansion is inside Beckenham Place Park.

Q: Do I have to take part in the dance lesson?

A: No, it’s optional. The idea is to offer guest some moves from the 20’s and give you a feel of how to dance to the music. Come and join in or just prop  up the bar!

Q: I am a bit of a 1920’s purist. Am I going to have a good night or not?

A: You’ll have a great night if you’re fairly easy going about other styles of music too. We are trying to keep it as authentic as possible but this is limiting  so we will play a variety of music keeping the era and style in mind.

Q: Will you have security?

A: We employ a team of professional licensed door supervisors.

Q. Do you have a cloakroom?

A: At this first event, we will have a cloakroom but it will be unsupervised for part of the evening. So, please don’t bring valuable items along.

Speak Easy

The Kitty Kat Club
A speakeasy, also called a blind pig or blind tiger, is an illicit establishment that sells alcoholic beverages. Such establishments came into prominence  in the United States during the Prohibition era (1920-1933, longer in some states).
